About the Organization
Blessing Health System based in Quincy, IL, is the parent company of Blessing Hospital and Illini Community Hospital which employ nearly 300 physicians and advanced practice providers working throughout West- Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri.
Blessing Hospital is a 339 bed, level II, regional referral center and teaching hospital. It provides full medical, educational and social services for a population area of 300,000 people.
Blessing's medical staff represents over 30 specialties and sub-specialties who work with approximately 4,000 employees, offering a broad array of primary and secondary care services. The physician group has seen tremendous growth over the last 12 years and it continues to grow to meet the demands of the System's service area.
Southern Illinois University School of Medicine's Quincy Family Medicine Center, a residency teaching program, is also located on the main Blessing campus.
About the Community
The city of Quincy (population 50,000) stands on a picturesque bluff on the east bank of the Mississippi River, south of the intersection of Southeast Iowa, Northeast Missouri, and Western Illinois. Quincy is a modern and progressive city in the heart of a large and fertile agriculture area.
Although its wide, tree-lined streets and historic homes remind visitors of days gone by, Quincy has positioned itself as the regional retail, educational, cultural and medical hub for a population of more than 300,000.
Quincy is served by interstate highways, as well as passenger rail and regional air service. The city is a 90-minute drive from Springfield, IL, a two-hour drive from St. Louis and a three and a half hour drive from Kansas City, Missouri. Quincy Regional Airport offers daily flights to Chicago O'Hare, and Amtrak provides twice-daily passenger service to and from Chicago.
